The Sonig clamp system is for producing perfect miter joints between natural stone or quartz slabs.
The clamps have an open space design which makes loading the two slabs very easy. When undone, the quick locking system allows the two parts of the clamp to pivot apart. The positioning of the two edges can be perfectly aligned before the glue is applied so that a perfect 90º angle will be produced when the clamp is pressed together. This reduces the time taken to prepare the mitered edges. The locking mechanism is very secure and holds the two pieces of stone in the exact position, while the correct amount of pressure is applied from above and behind the slab. This is all designed for speedy fixing.
Every part of the system that comes into contact with the slabs is protected by plastic covers which prevent the material from being marked.
The slab thickness that the Sonig miter clamp can miter is between 12 to 40mm thick. The maximum height for a slab is 200mm. We suggest using one set of miter clamps (two arms) every 500mm in terms of the width and the length of stone for this kit is dictated by the length of the steel C channel, 750mm. If wider joints are required please contact us for advice.
These clamps are a worthwhile investment for the workshop. If this operation is usually done by hand, these clamps will save a significant amount of production time. They are very easy to use, cut preparation time and give accurate joints every time.
The basic set includes two of the following: Mitre Clamps, C Section Steels, C Clamps, Fixed Bases. This is everything required to clamp stone of the following dimensions, up to: 750mm length, 500mm width, 200mm height and between 12 and 40mm in thickness. Each part of the system is available separately depending on your requirements.
Guide to Fabricating Mitered Seams
The first half of the slab can be put into place while the clamp is open. The C shaped clamps hold the stone in place while the rest of the material is loaded. The steel bars accommodate an under-mounted holder for the shaft of the mitre clamp
The second half of the material is now in place and the positioning can be adjusted to guarantee an accurate join
While the pivot is apart, the resin can be applied precisely
The final part of the operation is to move the clamp to 90º to secure the joint
